PROJECT: Inclusive Play Area at Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork
CLIENT: Cork City Council in Partnership with Bon Secours Hospital

Service: CSR acted as lead consultant and employers representative for masterplan development, detailed design and implementation of site works.

Collaborating with Snug & Outdoor, Kompan Ireland, Punch Consulting Engineers, and Michael Barret Partnership, CSR’s landscape design sought to deliver a play area that would be have something for all children regardless of physical or mental ability or disability

Design concepts for the project strove to deliver a suitable balance between iconic, bespoke play features and traditional play items which provide tried and tested play value.  A range of sensory play items are provided with wheelchair access to all areas. The central attraction is a bespoke ship and castle which also incorporates a climbing wall. Natural materials and surface finishes are used throughout.

The project delivers a fun and inviting park attraction in which movement and activity are stimulated.  The play area is equipped with picnic suites, seating and drinking water.
