BRIEF
CSR were appointed as Landscape Architects for a commercial logistics development in Baldonnell, with a brief to create a cohesive campus landscape linked by a strong Green Infrastructure Strategy. The design needed to provide a network of connected footpaths, a unified materials palette and biodiverse, low-maintenance planting. A key requirement was the incorporation of a catchment-scale flood relief system for the Camac River, addressing both river and on-site flooding. This was achieved through a significant interconnected network of swales and basins that manage overground flows and improve the site’s climate resilience.
CONCEPT
The concept capitalises on the site’s riverside location, providing a continuous footpath along the Camac to enhance access to nature and provide lunchtime recreation for workers. Proximity to Baldonnell Aerodrome was addressed in the design by controlled building and landscape heights, as well as providing bird netting over attenuation features to discourage bird congregation. The natural landscape is largely flat with native tree belts and gentle mounding introduced to mitigate visual impacts. Ecological and hydrological surveys informed the layout and green infrastructure, ensuring sustainability and biodiversity remained central to the design.
