OVERVIEW
CSR were retained by Malachy Walsh & Partners to undertake a strategic planning review of the existing planning permission and Environmental Impact Statement prepared by RPS for a proposed harbour development in Bantry. The review focused on assessing the approved development and permitted phasing to support the future delivery of the scheme.
SERVICE PROVIDED
CSR reviewed the extant planning consent, Environmental Impact Statement and approved phasing strategy for the harbour development, which proposes a more sheltered harbour and marina with increased water depth, alongside a new quayside to support fishing activity and promote tourism in the Bantry area. As part of the commission, CSR assessed alternative design options prepared by Malachy Walsh & Partners and proposed modifications to the approved scheme. These recommendations assisted in shaping a revised development approach capable of securing agreement with the Port of Cork and facilitating future implementation.
The Port of Cork formally opened the new Bantry Harbour Marina in August 2017.
