The park is 2.34 ha. In size and is in the ownership of Kilkenny Co. Council.  It is zoned for passive amenity under the Draft Ferrybank Belview Local Area Plan 2017. A part 8 planning process for the park was approved by Kilkenny Co. Co.in September 2017 on the basis of a conceptual layout plan for the park.

The design concept for the playground draws inspiration from the topography of the site, the rich Viking heritage associated with Waterford and its riverside setting.

The concept is based on the clustering of a number of the key park facilities including play area, zip line, youth shelter and amphitheater in the upper section of the site aimed at promoting a strong sense of identity, social interaction while availing of the panoramic views across the local landscape.
