BRIEF

CSR acted as Lead Consultant and Employer’s Representative for the refurbishment of Gorey Town Park, overseeing the design concept, masterplanning, detailed design, tendering, and project management of this complex town-centre development. Working with a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, PSDP, and quantity surveyors, the project was delivered under the CWMF capital works framework with a total budget of €1.8M. CSR guided the scheme through the Part 8 planning process, addressing key issues including public realm improvements, materials and furniture selection, detailed paving and streetscape patterns, and the protection of existing trees.

‍CONCEPT

Prior to development, the park offered limited facilities and no clear identity, despite Gorey’s rapid population growth and need for modern amenities. CSR’s updated masterplan reimagined the park as a vibrant urban destination and focal point for the community. Central to the design is a café with outdoor seating, complemented by an outdoor amphitheatre and performance space, new playground, splash fountain, boules and skittles courts, outdoor table tennis, car parking, and enhanced planting and habitat areas. By combining functionality with creativity, the project transformed the park into an inclusive and engaging civic space, supporting both everyday use and larger community events.
