BRIEF

his 21.25-hectare masterplan delivers a mixed residential and student neighbourhood adjacent to the protected Maria Villa and within the historic setting of Carton House, just 250m from Maynooth Town Centre. The scheme provides 403 residential units, including houses, duplexes and apartments, alongside a vibrant village centre with 476 student apartments, retail, a crèche, gym and café facilities, creating a dynamic and connected community on the banks of the River Lyreen.

‍CONCEPT

The landscape strategy, guided by an urban design framework developed by Metropolitan Workshop, ensures the development is fully integrated into its sensitive historic and ecological context. It focuses on managing views and panoramas to protect the wider visual setting, while retaining and enhancing existing features such as the River Lyreen, its valley, field boundaries and mature trees. A comprehensive green infrastructure network and hierarchy of open spaces supports biodiversity, amenity and community wellbeing. Approved under the SHD process, the scheme has delivered a balanced mix of living, learning and leisure within a high-quality landscape framework.
