OVERVIEW
CSR were commissioned by Dineen & Co to collaborate with Murray O’Laoire Architects on the development of a landscape masterplan for a new mixed-use urban centre at the historic grounds of Mungret College in Limerick. The site is located adjacent to Mungret Abbey, an important heritage landmark. A key objective of the masterplan was to establish a strong relationship between the new development and its historic context. This was achieved through a carefully considered landscape strategy that reinforces visual connections between Mungret Abbey and the architecturally significant Mungret College, while supporting the creation of a vibrant, contemporary urban environment.
SERVICE PROVIDED
CSR developed a comprehensive landscape masterplan centred on the delivery of a new public park, designed to meet the open space requirements of the overall development. The park forms the primary green amenity, providing a focal point for the community and enhancing the quality of the public realm. In addition, a series of smaller public open spaces and landscaped courtyards were designed to serve surrounding residential and commercial areas, contributing to a cohesive and accessible network of outdoor spaces.
The park has now been completed and forms a defining feature of the overall development.
