OVERVIEW
CSR served as lead planners and EIAR coordinators for this national sporting facility, which is of global significance, being a co-host for the T20 Men’s World Cup in 2030, and which is located within a highly sensitive semi-rural environment within the campus. The project required several key components to be designed and mitigation provided for what are the most powerful sporting floodlights on the island and which facilitates delivery of public transport directly into the campus for the first time ever in the form of a public transport hub. This permitted development also significantly enhances pedestrian and cycle access into the campus for slow and healthy modes of transport.
SERVICE PROVIDED
CSR served as lead planners and EIAR coordinators, stepping in as project managers at crucial points to maintain momentum in the planning programme and secure planning permission on schedule. This ensured timely commencement of works and the achievement of key milestones so the facility would be ready for training, testing and trial events before the 2030 T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup. CSR coordinated a very complex team comprising ecologists, architects, aviation, archaeologists, noise, lighting and transport consultants, civil and structural engineers. CSR oversaw and coordinated the preparation of potential development options, option assessment, and detailed technical assessments including aviation impact assessment, mobility and event management plans, and construction and environmental management plans to avoid negative cumulative impact with simultaneous activities occurring on campus with cricket during both the construction and operational period.
Planning permission was granted for the National Cricket Centre in October 2025.
