Representing Jack and Jill on the New Children’s Hospital

Project Details

CSR were engaged by The Jack and Jill Children's Foundation to prepare and present a case in objection to the proposed National Children’s Hospital at St James’s Hospital. The commission required the assembly and coordination of a multidisciplinary team of experts to address the planning and visual amenity aspects of the scheme, alongside a range of environmental and operational considerations including access and circulation, emergency vehicle and helicopter access, parking provision, air quality, noise, flooding, waste management and energy.

The objection was advanced at the Public Hearing, the largest of its type in the history of the State, where CSR acted as advocate on behalf of the Foundation. The submission prepared was recognised as being both robust and technically comprehensive. In the course of this work, CSR gained detailed insight into the spatial and operational requirements of major healthcare facilities, while ensuring that the planning process gave due consideration to the needs and concerns of service users and the wider community.
