SOUTH CITY LINK ROAD, CORK CITY

OVERVIEW

CSR were retained to obtain planning permission for a Strategic Housing Development of Build to Rent apartments on a prominent site at the South Link Road, Cork. The scheme proposes 118 high-quality apartments across two connected blocks of 4–17 storeys, designed to offer a modern approach to city-centre living with a strong emphasis on shared amenities and sustainable, low-car use.

SERVICE PROVIDED

CSR were retained to secure planning permission lead the project through the planning stage. The team guided the development of a scheme that integrates resident amenities with public realm improvements. The proposal includes resident’s facilities and amenities such as communal kitchen/ dining area, a gym, workspaces/ hot desks, a TV/lounge area and a bookable party room. The proposal also makes provision for improvements to local footpaths, roads and the public realm including a connection to an existing pedestrian bridge over the South Link Road. These improvements are intended to enhance the pedestrian and cyclist environment and access to the proposed development which is almost car free.

Full planning permission was granted under a Strategic Housing Development by An Bord Pleanála in 2019 and amended in 2022.
