CSR are pleased to have supported Malachy Walsh & Partners (MWP) on the Brittas Wind Farm project, which has now received planning permission from An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The approved Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) application includes 10 wind turbines, an associated 110kV electrical substation and ancillary infrastructure across a number of townlands near Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The development represents an important contribution to Ireland’s renewable energy ambitions and national climate targets.
CSR provided Landscape and Visual Baseline Survey work and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) reporting as part of the EIAR process, including responses to submissions received during the planning application. Innovision supported the LVIA through the preparation of project visualisations.

The application attracted significant public interest, with concerns raised relating to visual impact, noise, ecology and local road infrastructure. Following a detailed assessment, An Coimisiún Pleanála concluded that the proposed development aligns with European, national, regional and local planning policy objectives for renewable energy development and climate action.
The approved development is subject to a range of planning conditions, including mitigation measures relating to environmental protection, ecology, construction management and operational noise limits.
CSR’s involvement focused on supporting a robust and evidence-based landscape and visual assessment process to inform decision-making throughout the application. The project demonstrates the continuing importance of high-quality environmental assessment and clear visual analysis in the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure.
We congratulate the wider project team on achieving this notable planning milestone.
