CSR are pleased to share that the Church of Oak Distillery: Heritage Landscapes project has been shortlisted by the Irish Landscape Institute (ILI) for inclusion in the 2026 IFLA Europe Exhibition, Reconnecting Landscape.

Following the 2024 ILI Awards, the Institute was invited to nominate three Irish projects for participation in the European exhibition, which highlights outstanding landscape architecture and public realm projects from across Europe. Church of Oak Distillery was selected in recognition of its sensitive approach to heritage, landscape integration and placemaking.

Located at Ballykelly Mills, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, the c. 2ha project involved the transformation of a former 17th century malthouse into a contemporary distillery and visitor destination for client, Church of Oak. The wider design team, led by ODOS Architects, developed a concept centred on reconnecting people with nature and place, a celebration of the contrast between tradition and modernity. Construction works were carried out by Ormonde Construction.

The exhibition theme, Reconnecting Landscape, focuses on projects that strengthen the relationship between people, culture and environment through thoughtful design. The selected projects will be published across IFLA Europe’s online platforms, with one Irish project also being chosen for physical exhibition at the IFLA Europe General Assembly in Riga later this year.

The recognition reflects the creativity and dedication of the wider project team and marks an exciting opportunity for the project to be showcased within a broader European context. CSR appreciates the opportunity to contribute to projects that celebrate landscape, heritage and identity, and we are delighted to see Church of Oak Distillery recognised through this international platform.
